The only reason I ever went into Prinny Quay for years was for Vue, but since Odeon has been done up it is infinitely better and I don't think I've set foot in Prinny Quay in months, maybe a year.

    Get rid of it.

The selection of shops are becoming quite niche really. There’s not much in there for me at all with most of the shops I used to use having moved out over the years or they have second stores available elsewhere.

They’ve really struggled to fill the stores that are available (The Works are about to move in but that’ll probably mean closing the one on Whitefriargate) and they never ended up moving any restaurants in on the bottom deck after running the street food thing a few times for concerts.

Taco Bell was one of the options on their vote for the bottom deck. No idea what happened but it ended up opening elsewhere near St Andrews Quay.

Surprised it went there, I thought where Chiquitos used to be right outside Odeon would've been a great spot for something like that.

I’m surprised that building is still empty considering how popular Odeon has become.

Agreed, Odeon is by far the best cinema in Hull, anyone there would make a killing off of moviegoers.

    It’s empty.

There’s still a Chiquitos on Kingswood.

Amazing there isn't more anti German feeling in Hull.

Just goes to show how tolerant we are here.

The City centre in Hull is totally ****ed with regards to retail. Not sure how the best way to resolve it is. St Stephens pulls everyone away from the bits of the City that are interesting like the old town, the marina, trinity square. St Stephens should never have been built in my opinion. Particularly with a now struggling retail sector.

Love or hate Princes Quay it’s location to all the interesting bits in the City is far superior to St Stephens.

The planners that allowed St Stephens planning permission pretty much killed off the rest of the City centre. Now we’re left with swathes of empty shops and more planning on being built as part of the grand project to replace the BHS building. Imbeciles.

Agree entirely. But I think a bigger problem is that there aren't enough people in Hull spending sufficient money to make the city centre more appealing, and I don't see that changing in the foreseeable. I was on a train from Hull a while back, it was almost empty until we got to Brough when it filled up with people going to Meadowhall. I imagine a lot of people who live outside of Hull find it more convenient to go there, or Leeds or York for their shopping.

Having said that the Fruit Market development looks very appealing and I believe it's selling well.
